If you can’t stand the heat, get out of the pizza oven. Unionization is on the table for an industry that has previously seen no efforts in that direction. Although there are many pizza chains like Domino’s and Papa John’s, the first workers to organize have done so at a small yet lauded pizzeria in Crown Heights, Brooklyn. Barboncino’s now has a supermajority of employees that have supported an election. They petitioned the NLRB for an election on Monday, May 22. Barboncino union reps tweeted that they are “moving towards collective bargaining with strength and purpose.”
