UAW President Shawn Fain’s latest warning to Detroit’s Big Three, where thousands of workers are already on strike at three plants, is letting the automakers know that if by Friday, September 22, there is no “serious progress” more locals will join the picket lines. As of now there are strikes at each one – Ford, Stellanis, and GM. Fain has made it clear in a late-night video that, “We’re not going to keep waiting around forever.” Ford also narrowly averted a strike by Canadian Auto Workers, Unifor, which represents 5,600 workers. Details of the three-year tentative contract have not been released, but U.S. experts say this could be a good sign stateside for the union.
