Not since 2016-17, when SAG-AFTRA called a strike against video gaming companies that lasted 183 days, has the call to that action been repeated. Now, SAG-AFTRA President Fran Drescher, who has made a name for herself with her outspoken rhetoric, calling out the greed and “ignorance” of entertainment company CEO’S, has made an appeal to her members, who are currently on strike, to authorize a strike vote aimed at the video game industry. In a video, Drescher points out that it has been almost a year of attempted negotiations and yet the “vital needs” of the workers are not being met. Wage increases and AI are the top two sticking points, as they are for SAG-AFTRA actors, and the WGA, who are also on strike.
