NYC food delivery workers have reached a milestone: they will now get a minimum pay wage. They will be the first in the country to have achieved this crucial victory, the result of lengthy battles and protests by activists and organizers. On June 11, NYC Mayor Eric Adams set the current wages at $17.96 per hour, increasing to $19.96 in 2025. Shamefully, the current average is $7.09 per hour. On top of the raise, they will still collect tips. Predictably, DoorDash and Uber Eats are already objecting strenuously to the legislation, claiming it will harm workers.
