A new nationwide poll conducted by Data for Progress has shown overwhelming support for the actors and writers, members of SAG-AFTRA and WGA, who are now on strike. Surprisingly, the majority of entertainment consumers – 86% – are even willing to suffer an interruption to their favorite shows in support of the striking workers. The use of artificial intelligence (AI) to replace human writers is strongly opposed; 74% think studios should be prohibited from this practice. The support also runs across party lines, with 67% of voters of both parties supporting the strikes, and 68% of Independents also showing support for the workers.
