IAM Files For A Union Election To Represent 3,000 JetBlue Ground Workers

Washington, D.C. – IAM takes on JetBlue and organizes their workers.

The IAM (International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers) – the largest Airline Union in North America, representing Airline Workers at every major U.S. Airline, has announced it will file an application with the National Mediation Board (NMB), the Federal Agency that conducts Union Elections in the Airline and Railroad Sectors, stating that there eThe International Association Of Machinists Files For A Union Election To Represent 3,000 JetBlue Ground Workers

xists sufficient interest among JetBlue Fleet Service Workers to conduct a Union Representation Election.

“I congratulate all JetBlue Ground Operations Workers for uniting in solidarity and demanding a Union Representation Election be conducted,” IAM International President Brian Bryant said. “The IAM Union stands ‘shoulder to shoulder’ with these brave Workers and will mobilize our Union’s significant resources to ensure that these resilient JetBlue Workers get the right vote.”

Following an aggressive Union-Busting Campaign from December 2022 to February 2023, during which JetBlue management made promises that have yet to be fulfilled, JetBlue Ground Operations Workers voted against Unionizing, despite a significant majority of Workers demanding a Union Election.

The JetBlue Workers have cited below-standard industry pay rates and benefits, poor and unsafe working conditions, unjustified discipline and terminations, among many other issues, as reasons to gain Union Representation and a seat at the table.
