Bronx, NY — New York City Council Member Andy King recently posted a social media message calling on the Patrolmen’s Benevolent Association President Patrick Lynch to apologize for urging officers to disinvite Mayor Bill de Blasio and City Council Speaker Melissa Mark-Viverito from official police funerals.

In his message to Lynch, calling for an end to the rising tension between NYPD and City Hall, Council Member King, co-chair of the Black, Latino and Asian Caucus, said “I am urging you to retract your statement, apologize to New York and say, ‘hey, listen, I made a mistake but in the best interest of uniting us all … we’re going to come up with real solutions and engage in behavior that’s respectful of that C-P-R that’s on the side of police cars.’”

The video message is posted on YouTube (http://youtu.be/RoaM_02vWy4) and Council Member King’s Facebook and Twitter pages.
