Governor Newsom’s signing of Senate Bill 931 means there will be significant penalties on public employers for union busting. The penalties will be levied when they attempt to deter or discourage employees from joining or participating in a union, among other tactics. Teamster General President Sean O’Brien said, “Public Employees serve their communities and they deserve to be treated with dignity and respect at work.”
