Anyone who has been paying attention to the growing numbers of attempts at unionizing at Starbucks all over the country would know that the coffee chain is one of the prime offenders in the fight of workers trying to legally gain better wages and benefits. The baristas’ union, Starbucks Workers United, wants to organize a historic boycott against their employers. Beginning with a Day of Action on Sept 14, they hope to raise public awareness in a way that would draw business away from the chain and put pressure on the company to begin bargaining in good faith. Over 350 Starbucks have been unionized, yet the company has not reached a contract with even one.
