On Feb. 20, Starbucks workers at 21 stores across the nation filed petitions with the NLRB. The over 400 workers in the stores want to join with the union Starbucks Workers United. It is the largest single-day filing since the union began in 2021. A letter sent to Starbucks CEO Laxman Narasimhan by the workers announced their action, and named issues such as erratic scheduling, unpredictable hours, a lack of living wages, and the need for policies that would respond to discrimination and harassment on the job. Federal administrative law judges have already found that Starbucks has committed over 400 violations of federal labor law, including unlawful firings, refusal to bargain, and others.
