Will the United Auto Workers (UAW) strike? And if so, would it be at all the Big Three Detroit automakers, or just one or two? Their contract expires on Sept. 14, and many are saying that due to UAW President Shawn Fain’s ambitious demands, and the likelihood they will not be met, a strike could take place. Fain leads his union in a similar way to the Teamsters’ Sean O’Brien, with big asks and no backing down. He wants a 46% pay raise for his members, as well as a 32-hour work week but with pay for 40 hours. He also says that they must have their traditional pension plan back.
