Critical public education funding is being withheld by the Trump administration.
The U.S. Department of Education has announced a delay in the allocation of approximately $7 billion in Congressionally approved federal K-12 education funding that was scheduled to be distributed on July 1st. School districts are depending on these funds for the upcoming 2025–2026 school year.
Schools and student education throughout our nation will be affected by this delay. Areas of particular concern include: school professional development, after-school programs, student mental health services and academic programs.
The Department has provided limited rationale for the delay and no clear timeline when the funds will be released. The reductions and delay in school funding by the Trump administration, is harming instructional planning and student learning throughout the USA.
