Brooklyn, NY – CAMBA refuses to discuss unionization of workers and moves to fire striking workers.
On January 6th, 2026, CAMBA, a non-profit community service organization, met the IT workers in their company that wanted to join Local 2325 of UAW. Management informed the Union’s Bargaining Committee that CAMBA would be eliminating the entire IT department. The striking workers requesting to to be unionized would be fired and replaced with an outside contractor beginning June 2026.
“We can see this transparently for what it really is: Union-Busting,” said CAMBA IT Union Bargaining Committeeman Rafael F. “As a CAMBA Employee of twenty-seven years, I know this has nothing to do with efficiency or cost-savings. CAMBA management is infuriated that CAMBA Workers bravely and rightly Unionized to demand better working conditions.”
A majority of CAMBA’s IT Employees have invested more than a decade at the Brooklyn-based Non-Profit with three union members recently surpassing 27 years.
“CAMBA has betrayed their stated values. Despite whatever statements they make about serving the Brooklyn’s Community, today we saw that they’re unafraid to retaliate against actual New Yorkers with families and lives. This retaliatory action uproots the families and lives of the Brooklynites who have built the CAMBA’s technological backbone over decades,” a Bargaining Committeeman Member said.
The Local 2325 of UAW plans to file an Unfair Labor Practice (ULP) Charge and is exploring all legal recourse available to halt the retaliatory actions, Representatives said.
