Unions Reach Tentative National Deal with Kaiser Permanente

Following strikes and 11 months of rocky negotiations, a national coalition of unions reached tentative agreement March 13 on a new set of collective bargaining agreements with Kaiser Permanente.

The agreements cover roughly 60,000 workers in the 22 local unions that are part of the Alliance of Health Care Unions. That includes about 4,000 nurses and other health care professionals represented by Oregon Federation of Nurses and Health Professionals in Oregon and Southwest Washington and about 1,300 technical and professional employees represented UFCW Local 3000 in Western Washington.

The agreements raise wages a total of 21.5% over the next three years and eight months, The coalition was also able to align expiration dates across all locals — Oct. 1, 2029.

A separate set of Kaiser unions known as Coalition of Kaiser Permanente Unions has its own national master agreement covering locals of SEIU and OPEIU.
