The U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) released a statement on Equal Pay Day, which falls on the 14th of March annually. Rife with statistics to support its assertion that the day is no celebration, but only draws attention to gender inequities, the agency outlined several initiatives to combat disparities in opportunities and wage gaps. Women are paid an average of 83.7% as much as men. The DOL also says, “the gaps are even larger for many women of color and women with disabilities.”
