The Teamsters are in the midst of holding a vote to authorize a strike against UPS. Over 330,000 members can weigh in. The current contract expires August 1, and if a contract deal is not reached by July 31, Teamsters General President Sean O’Brien has said the strike will go forward with member approval. Such a strike, given the massive numbers of packages UPS moves, could devastate UPS and the US economy. If the UPS workers strike, it would be the largest single-employer strike in US history.
