In Ventura County CA, ICE agents descended on farmworkers working on produce farms, on June 10th. The workers, who had already feared going to work, but had no choice, for the obvious reasons of having to make a living, fled over the fields, with ICE hot on their heels. In a parallel to the days of slavery, the workers ran as if pursued by bloodhounds. And indeed, the ICE agents, cowardly covering their faces, are hunting them without compassion or mercy, as they are doing all over the country. Agriculture is a $2 Billion dollar industry in the county alone, with migrants depended on to do work that is likely disdained potentially by Americans, who reject the grueling conditions of picking the crops year-round.
