Alejandro Garcia, born on June 24, 1986, has dedicated his life to service, leadership, and advocating for others through both military service and organized labor. A devoted family man, he is married and the proud father of four children, drawing strength and inspiration from his family while balancing the responsibilities of military service, union leadership, and community involvement.
On December 4, 2007, Alejandro enlisted in the United States Army as an Infantryman. Throughout his military career, he has participated in multiple combat deployments, demonstrating courage, resilience, and an unwavering commitment to his fellow Soldiers and the defense of the nation. Serving with the New Jersey Army National Guard, he developed extensive expertise in heavy weapons systems, tactical operations, and Soldier development.
Alejandro has served as a Heavy Weapons Instructor, training Soldiers on the employment, maintenance, and tactical use of crew-served weapons systems. He is qualified and experienced as an instructor on the Common Remotely Operated Weapon Station (CROWS) and the Improved Target Acquisition System (ITAS), providing critical instruction on advanced weapons platforms and targeting systems.
In addition, Alejandro has served as a Small Arms Master Gunner for the New Jersey Army National Guard, responsible for improving weapons proficiency, marksmanship programs, and combat readiness among Soldiers. His military experience also includes serving as a Gunner, playing a vital role in mission execution and unit readiness. Through these leadership positions, he has mentored and developed Soldiers while emphasizing professionalism, discipline, and operational excellence.
In September 2010, Alejandro joined Glaziers Local Union 1087 of New York, beginning his career in the glazing industry. He successfully completed a four-year apprenticeship program and became a skilled Journeyman Glazier, gaining extensive experience in architectural glass and metal systems. His work ethic, leadership, and dedication to his fellow union members quickly earned him recognition within the labor movement.
Recognizing Alejandro’s commitment to organized labor and his ability to advocate for working men and women, District Council 9 Business Manager Joseph Azzopardi hired him to become an Organizer for District Council 9 in September 2015. In this role, Alejandro has worked tirelessly to strengthen the union, organize workers, protect jurisdictional standards, and ensure members receive fair representation and opportunities within the industry.
Alejandro also serves as a Council Delegate and Executive Board Member for Glaziers Local Union 1087, where he actively represents the membership, contributes to policy development, and helps guide the future direction of the local union. His leadership has been centered on promoting solidarity, defending workers’ rights, and preserving the proud traditions of the glazing trade.
With a career defined by combat service to his country, dedication to the labor movement, and commitment to his family, Alejandro Garcia exemplifies the values of leadership, integrity, service, and brotherhood. Whether training Soldiers in advanced weapons systems, mentoring fellow service members, organizing workers, representing union members, or being a devoted husband and father, Alejandro continues to lead by example, embodying the values of service, sacrifice, and commitment that have defined his life and career.
