Philip J. Milio US Army Vietnam Veteran. Photographer, actor, writer, and military consultant for theatre. He resides in New York City with his wife, Julie Geisler.
After high school Philip worked for the Department of Defense with satellite imagery to map the moon; a year later he joined the US Army, served as a photographer in the Signal Corps in West Germany, a photographer for Military Intelligence in South Vietnam, and as a paratrooper.
After the military, he went to college for an AAS and a BA in Photography from the State University of NY. Philip went on to earn an MA from NYU in Higher Education Administration and Counseling and continued with postgraduate courses in Fine Art at Hunter College, CUNY.
Philip has held leadership positions in several veterans organizations including the Vietnam Veterans of America’s Manhattan Chapter.
He worked as a Professor and Counselor in Student Life at SUNY Fashion Institute of Technology, he taught leadership and human relations skills, and managed extracurricular educational programs. Philip was an officer of his union – the United College Employees of FIT, local 3457 NYSUT/AFT. Philip retired after 40 years.
Since then, Philip has been a Team Building consultant in profit and non-profit organizations.
He now devotes much of his time to photography as an art, writing poetry, memoir, and performing in musical theater.
His photographs have been exhibited in upstate New York, Manhattan, as well as art shows in Washington, DC, London and Scotland.
Memoirs and poems have been published on-line and in printed anthologies. Much of his written work draws on experiences as a soldier and veteran.
