NYSNA Nurses Continue Strike in Third Week

NYSNA nurses continue to strike Mount Sinai Hospital, Mount Sinai Morningside and West, Montefiore, and NewYork-Presbyterian.

Nurses made major progress toward protecting their high-quality healthcare but the pay increase issue has not been settled. Management at Mount Sinai and NewYork-Presbyterian signed an agreement with NYSNA that maintains NYSNA’s present health benefits with no cuts. However, nurses continue to fight for fair contracts and nurse safety. Safe staffing to ensure that every patient has a qualified nurse continues to be an issue.

Over the past two weeks of the strike, nurses have had broad support from unions, legislators and community organizations. Key legislators have marched with NYSNA including Senator Bernie Sanders and Mayor Zohran Mamdani, Videos from the strike have continually appeared on local television stations.
