32BJ SEIU Members Ratify New Contract

Members of 32BJ Service Employees International Union (SEIU) have approved a new contract covering approximately 34,000 residential building service workers across New York City.

According to union officials, 94 percent of participating members voted in favor of the agreement. The union said the contract includes wage increases totaling $4.50 per hour over the life of the agreement, a 15 percent increase in guaranteed pension benefits, and continued employer-paid health care coverage.

Union representatives also said the agreement preserves existing benefits, including legal assistance programs and workforce training opportunities.

The contract was reached in April following several months of negotiations between 32BJ SEIU and representatives of the residential real estate industry. The agreement was finalized before any work stoppage occurred.

Union leaders described the contract as a significant achievement for building service workers and said it provides improvements in wages, retirement security, and benefits while maintaining existing protections.

The agreement affects workers employed in residential buildings throughout New York City, including doormen, porters, maintenance workers, concierges, and other building service employees.

Additional details regarding the contract are available from 32BJ SEIU and participating employer organizations.
