The notorious 2011 anti-collective bargaining law in Wisconsin that severely limited collective bargaining rights for public employees is now being challenged in court. Former Gov. Scott Walker had been a cheerleader for the bill’s passage. A group of unions and their members who are the plaintiffs include AFSCME Local 47, SEIU Wisconsin, Teamsters Local 695, two Education Associations and a Teaching Assistants Association. The suit was filed on Nov. 30, and says that the statute is unconstitutional as it divides public employees into two groups, favoring one group’s bargaining rights and disfavoring the other, which includes most state workers.
