Manhattan Supreme Court Justice Lyle Frank ruled that Mayor Adams’ administration can no longer charge retired city workers $15 co-pays for doctors’ visits. In an effort to save costs, the city has trained its sights on the benefits of retired city workers, by also trying to switch their health care plans to the Medicare Advantage Plan, from traditional Medicare. 250,000 retirees’ health care plans are at stake. In the case of the co-pays, the NYC Organization of Public Service Retirees had filed their successful lawsuit in November.
