The United Auto Workers (UAW) are in fighting mode to get what they want from the “Detroit Three”: General Motors, Ford, and Stellanis. Little progress has been made in current negotiations, and now UAW President Shawn Fain is urging members to approve a strike authorization. Locals are directed to begin voting immediately and submit results by Aug. 24. The current contract expires Sept. 24. Issues include pay, benefits, and the union’s push to end the two-tier pay system.
