UAW President Shawn Fain, is, as he has previously promised, setting his sights on unionizing auto workers in the South. It is a region of the country where auto companies like to move their operations when things get too expensive, specifically labor costs, in other states. Fain said auto workers at a Mercedes’ plant in Tuscaloosa, AL, are joining with the UAW, and said, “Alabama Gov. Kay Ivey dared to say the economic way of the South is under attack.” He continued, “She’s damn right it is! It’s under attack because workers are fed up with getting screwed.” He also blasted Georgia and Tennessee’s governors for their states’ anti-union legislation.
