The International Longshore and Warehouse Union (ILWU), which represents West Coast port workers – hates Donald Trump’s tariffs. The people who load and unload the ships along with port truckers and warehouse workers, are losing their jobs en masse. The ILWU says the tariffs are “an economic war on working people.” What the majority of Americans don’t understand, and likely a large portion of those voters who put Trump in office, is that tariffs are taxes on imported goods, and consumers often are hit with higher prices as a result. The ILWU added that the administration’s “short-sighted policies have begun to devastate American workers.”
