Strippers in Los Angeles, fed up with what they say are safety issues, unfair wage policies, racist discrimination in hiring, and lack of protection for undocumented workers, among other issues, began a strike at the Star Garden Topless Dive Bar in North Hollywood in March of 2022. In response, management fired the group and locked them out. Now they are close to achieving a victory. The NLRB will seek their reinstatement next month. The stakes are high, since if that goal is achieved, they will join the prestigious Actors’ Equity union, and become the first strip club to unionize since 1997.
