Beginning the week of Mar. 27, station agents in New York subways will venture out of their booths part-time, in a deal worked out between Transport Workers Local 100 and management last year. In exchange for the enhanced face-to-face customer service duties, the workers will receive an hourly pay raise. Assistance with fare machines, help for customers with disabilities and seniors, and access to information during service disruptions and planned changes are just a few of the new perks available. A number of Customer Service Centers are on the way, where riders can process some transactions and sign up for reduced fare services.
