As the August 1 strike deadline for the 340,000 Teamsters employed by UPS nears, the workers have just received a huge boost from members of the U.S. House and Senate. On July 19, a bipartisan group committed to not intervening in the current collective bargaining process that is ongoing. The group includes not only Democrats and Independents but Republicans as well. Teamsters General President Sean O’Brien said, “By saying they will not intervene, these officials are doing right by American workers and the labor movement.”
