LaborPress FAQ’s

LaborPress FAQ's

1) When was LaborPress founded, and by whom?
LaborPress was founded in 2009 by Neal Tepel, a longtime New York City educator and union advocate. Since then, we’ve grown into an independent newsroom and platform focused on daily labor news, original reporting, podcasts, videos, and events.

2) Why are labor unions important?
Unions give workers a collective voice to negotiate fair wages, safe workplaces, good benefits, training and apprenticeships, and a meaningful say in workplace decisions. They help set standards that lift entire industries and communities. LaborPress covers union wins, challenges, and best practices to keep members, leaders, and allies informed.

3) Does LaborPress help vendors reach the labor movement?
Yes. LaborPress partners with mission-aligned vendors through clearly labeled advertising, sponsored content, newsletters, video and podcast placements, and event sponsorships. We maintain editorial independence and label paid placements. To discuss options, email [email protected].

4) How can startups get involved with LaborPress?
If you’re building solutions for union members, benefit funds, or union employers, we’d love to hear from you. Options include thought-leadership pieces, product spotlights, case studies, and event or podcast sponsorships. We prioritize offerings that improve safety, affordability, access to care, and quality of life for working families. Send a brief overview to [email protected] (problem you solve, who it helps, any union pilots, and a contact).

5) How do I request an invitation to a LaborPress event?
Many events are RSVP or invite-only, with priority for union leaders, benefit fund trustees, and partners. The best ways to get on the list are:

  • Subscribe to the newsletter for announcements and RSVP links.
