Denver Public Library Workers File to Form Union

One day after a new Public Sector Bargaining Law took effect, Workers employed at the Denver Public Library, submitted union authorization cards.

From a super-majority of eligible Staff to form Denver Public Library workers united (DPLWU)/Communications Workers of America (CWA) Local 7799.

In November, Denver voters overwhelmingly approved a ballot measure expanding Union Rights to around 7,000 more Public Workers beginning January 1st, 2026. DPLWU Members include book shelvers, clerks, facilities workers, security staff, librarians, library assistants, custodians, delivery drivers and other essential staff.

Juan Manuel Ramirez Anzures, an administrative assistant for the children’s library, said: “Now more than ever we need to, as workers, whether you’re a public-sector worker, private-sector worker, now is the time to unionize. Now is the time for solidarity and all power to the workers.”
