Puget Sound, Oregon – Friday, Sept 19th, QFC grocery store workers ratified a Letter of Understanding (LOU) that allows displaced UFCW 3000 members at Fred Meyer stores in Oregon to transfer into other Kroger network QFC positions while retaining their union seniority and benefits.
The ratification of this LOU ensures a fair transfer process for the 700+ workers whose jobs were put at risk by Kroger’s decision to close stores in Oregon and Washington. QFC is a subsidiary of Kroger, one of the largest supermarket companies in the United States. It primarily serves the Puget Sound region and the Portland–Vancouver metropolitan area.
The UFCW (United Food and Commercial Workers) represents 1.2 million members across the U.S. and Canada. It is one of North America’s largest private-sector unions.
