7,000 nurses are on strike, as negotiations failed with Mount Sinai on Manhattan’s Upper East Side and at three Montefiore Medical locations in the Bronx. The New York State Nurses Association (NYSNA) said in a Monday statement that bargaining had gone late into the night, but no agreements were reached. Issues include breaks, time for meals, safe staffing ratios and more, leading to burnout and the loss of nurses who are driven away by the stress of the conditions.
