Wendy Webb Inspiring Men and Woman in the Building Trades

Wendy Webb is the President of LIUNA Local 79 and a dedicated Business Agent whose leadership has transformed opportunities for workers across the construction industry. A Brooklyn native and U.S. Army veteran, Wendy sets
an example for every American worker as her journey embodies service, perseverance, and progress.

Her construction career began with the Laborers’ International Union of North America (LIUNA), where she spent over a decade as a laborer before breaking barriers in leadership. In 1998, she became a shop steward, and just two years later, made history as Local 79’s first female Business Agent.

Wendy’s commitment to workforce development led her to serve more than 20 years in Apprenticeship, first as Co Coordinator and later as Coordinator, where she spearheaded the program’s growth from 70 apprentices to over 430 active trainees and more than 1,000 graduates. Through her mentorship and advocacy, she has championed the inclusion of women and underrepresented groups in the trades, creating meaningful pathways into stable, high wage careers.

Her impact extends beyond Local 79. Wendy serves on the Board of Directors for the Edward J. Malloy Initiative for Construction Skills and Nontraditional Employment for Women, and as an Auditor for the Mason Tenders’ District Council Board. Her trailblazing leadership has earned her numerous honors, including recognition from the New York State Assembly, the Women Builders Council, the NAACP, and multiple city and state leaders.  Wendy continues to inspire men and woman of the building trades and in June 4, 2026 Wendy was an honoree at the Nontraditional Employment for Women’s 2026 Equity Leadership Awards Luncheon.
