The nation’s most prestigious universities, some known for centuries as centers of intellectual life in the United States, are currently engaged in a battle to the death with the Trump administration. Free speech, choices of curriculum and the open dialogue between different viewpoints, as well as many other crucial areas that are the reason such institutions exist, are all on the chopping block. However, 600 faculty members at Harvard signed a petition resisting the move, despite the fact that would threaten their federal funding, while other faculty across the country have begun to organize. The American Association of University Professors (AAUP) has filed three lawsuits over just some of the Administration’s full-on attacks.
