New York, NY – On January 14, 2027 the Triangle Shirtwaist Factory Fire Memorial will hold its annual Scholarship Event.
Individuals who have contributed to the causes of worker protection and worker rights will be honored.
This year’s Triangle Scholarship honorees are Assemblymember Catalina Cruz, Dr. Michael Crane, Director of the Mount Sinai Selikoff Centers for Occupational Health and the World Trade Center program, and Zola Brown, benefits and outreach coordinator for SEIU Local 1199 and longtime worker advocate.
The event will return to the Elsie Rooftop in midtown, which was a popular space last year! The Triangle website is: https://trianglememorial.
We have seen a dramatic increase in scholarship applications and there are multiple recipients in this year’s class of scholarship awardees. We hope that you will continue to publicize the availability of Triangle Scholarships ($6,000 per academic year) to those who meet the scholarship criteria, which are:
- Workers who are permanently partially disabled, permanently totally disabled, or have a serious injury for which workers’ compensation benefits have been awarded and which are also the basis of a successful application for Social Security Disability Benefits
- Children of workers who meet the above criteria
- Children who are receiving workers’ compensation death benefits
The application can be found on the Triangle website at https://trianglememorial.
