The Screen Actors Guild and American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (SAG-AFTRA) has made an agreement with the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers to hold off on a strike that its members have already authorized. Instead, the current contract, which expired on June 30, will be extended until July 12. Outstanding issues include streaming residuals, pay increases, and the employment of artificial intelligence (AI) in using actors’ voices and images, among other major sticking points. Despite the extension, many actors, including celebrities, say that they will strike if these issues are not resolved to their satisfaction.
