NYC Uber drivers held a 24-hour strike that lasted until midnight Monday, Dec. 19. The drivers were protesting a blocked pay increase. The Taxi and Limousine Commission had passed its first pay increase for ride-hail drivers since 2012. Yet Uber quickly filed a lawsuit against the pay raise, saying the raises would harm the company’s bottom line, as well as harm the industry, since higher driver pay would result in a cost increase for riders.
