The MTA and the Transit Workers Union Local 100 have had numerous disagreements over the years. Now the stakes are higher for strap-hangers. The MTA wants to cut subway service Monday-Friday, citing work-from-home trends. TWU Local 100 President Richard Davis said, “We think the Monday to Friday cuts are horrible. It doesn’t do any justice for the riding public and our members who will have to explain to the customers why the trains aren’t coming and they have to wait longer.” Transit workers continue to be assaulted by irate passengers for various reasons, wait time being one of them.
