Orlando, FL – TWU has successfully organized all Aircraft Fuelers at Orlando International Airport..
Fuelers and GSE Mechanics with Menzies were previously voluntarily recognized to join TWU Local 504. The TWU is the largest airport workers union in the country and the largest union on property at Orlando International Airport.
“The TWU continues its tireless organizing work of airline workers nationwide,” said TWU International President John Samuelsen. “A year ago, we organized PrimeFlight Fuelers in Orlando and swiftly negotiated that extremely important first contract that locked in a 15 percent pay raise, vacation pay, and guaranteed sick time. We now look forward to doing the same with Menzies.”
Menzies and PrimeFlight are contractors that conduct fueling operations for major airlines in Orlando. Menzies chose to voluntarily recognize the Fuelers after almost all of the group signed cards announcing their intention to organize. The TWU also represents Menzies Fuelers at Dallas Fort Worth International Airport.
“We are proud to welcome our newest members of TWU Local 504 as we continue to expand our membership with various aviation contractors across the country,” said Local 504 President Robert Payne. “We are already hard at work to negotiate a first contract that will significantly improve the lives of Fuelers in Orlando and their families.”
The TWU represents more than 160,000 workers across the airline, railroad, transit, universities, utilities and service sectors. The TWU is the largest airline workers union in the United States.
