Two weeks remain until the Unionized Long Island Railroad (LIRR) Workers go on strike.
During the public comment period at the board meeting, General Chairman of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers and Trainmen (BLET) for the LIRR, Gil Lang, criticized the MTA for not conducting serious negotiations with the unions.
Mr. Lang spoke for the five unions that included: BLET, the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers; the Transportation Communications Union; the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers; and the Brotherhood of Railroad Signalmen.
