As the SAG-AFTRA and WGA strikes drag on, approximately two months now, the business of reelecting leaders during this contentious time must continue. Fran Drescher was easily reelected as President, as was Joely Fisher, secretary-treasurer, by wide margins. Drescher made a name for herself when she spoke out loud and clear against the greed and outrageous pay packages of Hollywood CEO’s, saying, “shame on them,” and calling Disney CEO Bob Iger an “ignoramus.” The gap in pay between working actors and those executives had caught ire from many in the industry. Although there were competing factions within SAG-AFTRA, ultimately most came together in the common cause for justice in AI and machine learning, improved residuals formulas, and more ground rules on self-taped auditions.
