Like another outdoor gear supplier, REI, Patagonia’s progressive image pitched at customers has not extended to their workers’ rights. REI employees in several states, including in their flagship store in Manhattan, had unionized, and now Patagonia workers at a store in Reno, Nevada, have followed their lead, seeking the wages and benefits they deserve. They have voted to join United Food and Commercial Workers Local 711. The UFCW had organized nine REI locations in the U.S. with the RWDSU.
