Local union members throughout the USA, are contacting their congressional legislators with a simple message – don’t cut Medicaid.
Americans, regardless where they live, are now extremely concerned with the Trump agenda to cut Medicaid by almost one billion dollars. The planned reduction in Medicaid funding by the Republican Congress will have catastrophic effects on medical services throughout the nation.
The Republican administration is planning to cut $880 billion in Medicaid funding leading to a catastrophe for lower income Americans needing hospital services. Reduced federal funding will lead to staff shortages, layoffs and even hospital closures, which would leave many communities without basic health care facilities.
The anti-union extremists in the Trump administration think nothing of slashing public services and vital programs like Medicaid and Social Security. Their goal is to provide tax cuts for billionaires while reducing funding for critical middle class services. Medicaid helps patients afford low-cost treatments that prevent much higher costs their state’s would have to bear later.
Cutting Medicaid will have long-term negative effects on our nation particularly in poorer rural communities.
