A new agreement between studios and entertainment unions has ushered in a new era for COVID testing for many workers in Hollywood. The unions, Directors Guild of America (DGA), Screen Actors Guild and the American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (SAG-AFTRA) and the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees, Moving Picture Technicians, Artist and Allied Crafts of the United States and Canada (IATSE), negotiated the revisions with the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers. Now, among other changes, most crew in TV and film productions will no longer have to take a regular COVID test. Certain workers will also not have to take a pre-employment COVID test, and the requirement of a weekly COVID test for others during production has been eliminated.
