Over 600 concession workers at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center, a concert and sports arena, have reached a tentative agreement with their employer, Levy. UNITE HERE Local 100, the workers’ union, had been trying to win an acceptable contract for over a year. Once ratified, the workers will see their wages rise significantly, free health insurance for some, more pension contributions, and increased funding for training, among other parts of the deal. Local 100 President Jose Maldonado had said, about the impending strike, “Everybody was ready.”
