The NYC Central Labor Council hosted the “Our City, Our Fight, Our Future” Labor Day rally and march on Tuesday, September 8, 2026, in Lower Manhattan, replacing the traditional Fifth Avenue parade.
The rally and parade, which included New York labor unions from the public, private and the building trades – began at Liberty Street in Lower Manhattan. As we mark 25 years since September 11th, this NYC Central Labor Council activity was planned to honor the workers who ran toward danger and worked during the massage cleanup.
New York City’s strength comes from the people who build, maintain, teach, heal, transport, protect and keep the Big Apple running every day. This September 8th event was an opportunity for the entire New York Labor Movement to come together and demonstrate the strength, solidarity and power of working people, while standing up for the rights, freedoms and future of all New Yorkers.
