USW On Strike Against ArcelorMittal In Ohio

Members of United Steelworkers (USW) Local 3057 are on Strike at ArcelorMittal’s Facility in Shelby, Ohio.

The workers are fighting to keep their wages and health care benefits. There are about 450 ArcelorMittal Employees in the USW Bargaining Unit. They began their Strike on January 13th after working under an expired contract since October (2025).

The USW Members produce high-quality steel tubing at the plant – seven days a week, yet the company has proposed major scheduling changes that could seriously impact Worker paychecks.

ArcelorMittal is also trying to push contract language that will require spouses to be on a separate insurance plan. Workers are braving the freezing cold temperatures to hold their ground and secure the fair deal.

Local 3057 Representative Steve Ackerman told The Richland Source: “There are things such as proposed language changes, work schedule changes and health care changes that are the main focus (of contract negotiations) as of right now. It’s overwhelming to see the support USW Local 3057 is getting from the community.

It is a shame to see such a good group of hard Workers have to fight for a fair contract. The Union is ready and willing to continue bargaining.”
