Thousands of USPS Workers May Lose Their Jobs Under Trump

Trump, in his last term, trumpeted his desire to privatize the United States Postal Service. He began that process by appointing a know-nothing Postmaster General, Louis DeJoy, a man who would be guaranteed to kowtow to the Trump agenda. Now, as the President-elect is about to begin his second term, a “modernization” plan is in progress, which would cut thousands of USPS jobs. Hundreds of mail processing plants would be closed, replaced by mega-plants run by machines, not workers.  Unions are fighting the plan, which would involve major commute overhauls for those workers that would still be in the system. There is even a Trump-like name for these changes: “Delivering for America”. Hardly. The process is in place where, as has been rampant in recent years in corporations, the jobs of humans are being replaced by machines; and public services across the board are on the chopping block.
