About 50 workers at the JFK8 Amazon warehouse in Staten Island have been suspended. Conner Spence, one of the workers and the secretary-treasurer of the Amazon Labor Union, explained that a fire at the warehouse last Monday led to an evacuation. He said a work stoppage was organized because of smoke in the building, and that then the workers who refused to work after the fire had been suspended with pay.
